The instability caused by a trough extending from the BC Peace South East to a deep low over the Dakotas has been bringing rainfall amounts for the North East in the 15-25mm range over the last 24hrs. The system is weakening however, the possibility of sudden downpours and hail associated with afternoon Thunderstorms will exist today; a Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in place.

Daytime heating will cause this air to rise up into cooler air aloft; the recipe for afternoon Thunderstorms. A risk of a thundershower is also in the forecast for the surrounding regions of the Central Interior and the Columbia.
