An upper low has been the driving force of the wet weather in Southern BC. The low is now sitting on the border of in Southern Alberta/Montana and still is spreading heavy rain at times to many parts of the Southern Interior. So far, this rain event has produced about 22 mm of rain in Kelwona, over 30mm in Vernon, and over 40mm of rain in Salmon Arm. Areas like cranbrook where there were thunderstorms in the area has received about 55mm of rain in the last 24 hours. Western parts of the Southern Interior will start to see the rain taper off this afternoon as the low looses strength, but the Kootenay area will continue with wet weather until tonight.
