It's no secret that the BC interior has been hot; air conditioner sales are through the roof ! In fact many all time temperature records were broken yesterday in areas that are accustomed to the heat. Summerland was not only the hottest place in the province, but in all of Canada with a record breaking high of 38.7C Although the length of time that temperature records have been taken for specific cities varies across the province, 20 new official records were set yesterday.
Expect slightly cooler, but still warm sunny conditions through the Southern Interior this week. Northern regions will feel the effects of an upper trough, Thursday into Friday and this will bring slightly cooler temps with a risk of showers or thundershowers. This influence will be short lived as a ridge builds back in for a mostly sunny weekend. Looks like the heat returns early next week.
