We did have a few showers fall onto parts of Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley last night.. BUT none fell at the airport. Since the official weather station is located at YVR, this means the record was set for July 2013 for the first dry calendar month EVER and the sunniest month EVER. Having both of these records broken in a month is probably something we will never see again in our lifetime! EPIC! (So Epic...that a friend at Environment Canada had to celebrate with a cake!)
Now to the weather pattern change...the dry spell will end. Over the next couple days, the South Coast will be influenced by an upper level low that models suggest will be moving ever so slowly eastward across the Pacific Northwest. Although there will some sun today around Metro Vancouver, we will start to see more cloud later today, and this weather pattern will keep cool and showery conditions in the forecast from this evening until at least the first half of the August Long weekend for the Lower Mainland.
