You can read that in a couple ways... and both apply this week. We will likely have some record highs broken this week AND our forecast is going to sound like a broken record. Sun, sun and more sun for the South Coast from now until next Saturday.
Models are predicting not one but two blocking patterns in the forecast. First... a weak rex block sets up with an upper ridge over an area of low pressure - this will keep sunshine in the forecast from now until next weekend but then a weak omega blocking pattern sets up and that could keep a trough over the pacific north west area for a couple days starting next weekend - so in a week we could be see a pattern that is quite the opposite of the glorious sunshine that we will see this week. This omega pattern doesn't look very strong however - and because the low east of the high might not strengthen to a closed low - its blocking ability won't be that great.
Regardless, these types of blocking patterns, depending on their strength can keep weather stagnant for days or even weeks at a time.
For now let's just focus on the sunshine now shall we? Now where's my blender...
